It was a surprise anniversary gift and the subject was unaware that a painting was being commissioned, unfortunately they did not want a painting of themselves. A refund of the remaining balance, less the original non-refundable 50% deposit and return shipping cost plus a 4% restocking fee will be refunded in the same form of payment in which you purchased. How do I fix my painting if it is damaged at home?
When following your simple home care instructions damage to a painting is very rare. If necessary, Tina is a skilled artist that can repair most typical damage and uses a professional curator to repair any damage that is beyond her knowledge. Each case is individually priced and in some cases such as a minor scuff or scratch is completely cost free less any necessary shipping.
What is the best way to protect and care for my original Tina Garrett painting?
Correctly created oil paintings can survive for centuries with little to no noticeable aging or deterioration. Your work has been created with the highest quality materials available. Keep your painting out of long-term exposure to direct sunlight to prevent fading. Annually gently brush it vertically with a soft bristle goat hair brush found at your local craft store to remove any common dust. Never spray your painting with anything. Bathrooms and kitchens without proper ventilation can cause water damage so display your work in a low humidity environment. For short term storage, store hanging, as if on display, wrapped in gift wrap, then cardboard, in a cool, dry environment. For long term storage use the packaging that your painting arrived in, stored vertically. To prevent damage to the artwork do not stack anything on top of your painting. To prevent warping do not lean your painting against a wall for longer than 24 hours. Contact Tina for instructions for any deep cleaning or damage repair.
How do I ensure my painting?
Upon request, Tina provides an informative statement on the purchase price and full description of your artwork for insurance purposes. Present this to your homeowners or renters insurance company for rates.
I live far away, how much does it cost for Tina to paint or gather reference materials at my home?
Unless the circumstances are especially taxing, the process of gathering references is included in the price of your painting. For example, it is not uncommon for Tina to stay with or near her subject and paint the commission on site over a period of weeks.
What is the process of gathering references?
Each commission project is unique and offers its own puzzle to solve. With a clear vision and preparation, typically reference gathering is done in a single session in one day or a short duration in which Tina will sketch, photograph or video the subject and supportive materials needed to complete the project.
Does Tina work on more than one painting at a time?
Not usually, though if a painting is at a resting stage, Tina may work on a different work until the first work is ready for the next stage.
How do I know Tina is the right artist for my project?
Collectors reach out to Tina to inquire about commissioning artwork because they are familiar with or have even fallen in love with other Tina Garrett works. Tina understands and is protective of her creative process, what drives her to create art and what gives her the enthusiasm to solve the puzzles each work presents as well as her own limits. Therefore Tina does not take every commission proposed to her and limits the number of commissions she will accept on her schedule to the ones that she has a strong vision of and enthusiasm for. There are many factors that can signify that Tina is the right artist for your project, foremost is the understanding that Tina does not make changes to the artwork once the painting process has begun. Collectors are the driving force of the project's vision and creation process in concept, narrative and design, and during the designing stage there are ample opportunities presented to the collector to drive the creative process and change direction in this stage. Once the painting has begun, collectors trust Tina to use her expertise to create the actual work of art for which she will apply her name. Tina is the right artist for your project if you trust her to be.
If I change my mind will Tina change my painting?
If your painting has not been actually started you still have time to make changes to your idea or the details of the digital reference that will guide Tina in painting. Once your actual painting has begun no changes are accepted.
Will Tina enter the painting I commission into competition?
Yes, each work has the potential to be entered into a local, regional, national or international competition in which an image of the work may be submitted and in special circumstances, with permission from the collector, the actual work itself may be requested to display for competition.
Who owns the copyright to the painting I commissioned?
