3-Day Starting Methods Workshop
with ARC Associate Living Master, Tina Garrett
All levels welcome to participate in this comprehensive study of oil painting starting methods with ARC Associate Living Master, Tina Garrett, including, open grisaille, accurate color wash, and Tina’s favorite, selective start. Students will gain understanding of form, value, temperature, edges and composition as well as color mixing, as Tina demonstrates how to control your palette for accurate values and color. Tina will share her strategies that help anyone achieve accurate drawing and her methods to taking your portraiture from a simple documentation of a likeness to a work of art. Tina will share insights on posing the live model, discuss painting from photographs vs. painting from life, studio lighting and painting materials. Tina will demonstrate from the live model each morning and assist artists individually as they paint from the model each afternoon.

Workshop will be held on a large, beautiful, private estate overlooking a winding lake and mountains.
On Friday we will meet at the gallery and caravan to the location. Motels, B&B's, and cabins are available in Mena just a few miles away. There is also a spacious, 3 bedroom, non-smoking home next to the workshop facility with rooms available to rent. There is a fully appointed kitchen, breathtaking views and lots of room.
